Charlotte's First Cardinal Game

This past weekend we took Charlotte to her first Cardinal Game and she did great. We had dinner before we went, the kids eat all the snacks I brought and we still had to get Benjamin a hotdog and both of them ice-cream. It was perfect weather and the Cardinals even got two home-runs so we got to see the fireworks. To top it all off they even won the game which we rarely see!

Jane Louise Haupt

The Haupt Family grew a little bit more with the addition of Jane Louise born on August 25th! 7.9lbs and 21.75in of pure cuteness. She is just perfect!

Eclipse

On Monday, August 21st we got to experience a total solar eclipse. We luckily were in its path which started on Salem, Oregon and stretched all the way to Charleston, South Carolina. The totality only lasted about two minutes which during this time you didn’t have to wear your glasses.

David came over to my work so we could watch it together and enjoy the pizza party my company had to celebrate it.

Bruno Mars!

David and I headed to Chicago to see Bruno Mars in concert. Now you can’t take my opinion serious because I don’t go to many concerts but it was by far the best concert I have been to. We got to visit with David’s good friend Sandeep and his wife Lalita. We went on an architecture boat tour which I have always wanted to do and then went to this new restaurant called Duck Duck Goat which was amazing food!

First Day of Kindergarten

Benjamin is a routine kind of kid so going to Kindergarten had my anxiety level through the roof. I was so nervous about him taking the bus, being in a new school all by himself and just being very overwhelmed with all the new experiences. All that went away the minute the bus came to pick him up. He was holding my hand in fear but a smile on his face with pure excitement …and then he dropped my hand to tell me he can handle this. No tears for anyone that day!

Charlotte Potty Trained

Well that didn’t take long as she picked it up with in four hours. I took two days off of work so I had four days to train her and she only needed four hours. She woke up on a Saturday and I was let’s do this. She had two accidents that morning and then woke up from her nap and hadn’t had an accident the rest of the weekend. Now all we need to do is get her to stop wearing a diaper for nap and then it will be to stop at bed time.

South Carolina Family Vacation

The last week of June we headed to South Carolina to visit with Mimi and Papa. We were really dreading the car drive but to our surprise Charlotte did really great! Before we got there we stayed the night in Atlanta to see Stone Mountain.  I was very impressed with the park and we were only there for four hours and felt like we could of spend the rest of the day there. We even did a duck boat tour were we got to drive on land and water. The park even does fireworks at night!

We spent A LOT of time on the lake which was perfect for everyone. We even fit in time to celebrate both kids birthdays, build forts and play a lot of Spider-Man Uno. One day we did venture off to their Children’s Museum.

On our way home David let us stop in Metroplis, IL to see the huge Superman. Benjamin was in heaven!

Blueberry Festival

Such a great kid event hosted at The Dailey Bread. They have the Bubble Bus come out and do bubbles during the entire event. They have the Magic House come out and set up a bunch of activates from face painting, bead making, hat making, flower pot coloring and much more. They also have a snow cone station, a cookie decorating station and a bunch of samples to taste with food for purchase. WE got a blueberry pie and it was AMAZING!

Fireworks

Twin Oaks has fireworks every year and they are typically on the 3rd which works out perfect for us as the kids stay up late and then get to sleep in on the 4th. It seems to work so we keep doing it. The best part is getting to have ice-cream while watching the fireworks and those are never disappointing. Here are a couple pics of our fun!

Farmer Mike’s

Every year David’s Uncle Mike host 4th of July down at his property which is always fun. They have a lake to swim in, 4 wheelers to ride, land to explore and some good BBQ. Benjamin really loves going there and Charlotte had enjoyed it also!

4th July School Parade

LECE hosts a 4th July parade every year and luckily this year Mimi and Papa were in town to attending and both Charlotte and Benjamin were in it. They make adorable shirts, hats, shakers and flags. It is really fun for the kids to prepare for except clearly Charlotte wanted nothing with her outfit except for her red ‘boppy’. At least that was red…
