Over the past three years David was studying to get his CPCU
(you will have to ask him what that stands for). It was a series of eight test
and years of giving up on family time. It was well worth it because he got a bonus
and a four day trip for two to Hawaii. I am SO proud of him!
The first four nights we stayed in Oahu since that is where
the CPCU Society had hosted events. Among all those events we still had time to
do some exploring. We got to tour the Pearl Harbor (USS Missouri), take a hike
in the rain forest at Monoa Falls, hike the stairs of doom at Koko Head Stairs
(this was by far the hardest challenge I have ever done in my life), see
Waikiki Beach & Waimea Bay (from the Surfin’
USA song by the Beach Boys) and hike
the Diamond Head Crater Trail.
The next three nights we stayed in Kauai at a beautiful
resort which could have been just fine to stay there because it had so much to
offer. We did venture off the resort and saw the most beautiful breathtaking
beach I have ever seen at Lanikai Beach. We did a 2 mile kayak and then a one
mile hike tour (had the best tour guide) and then the next day we did a 5 mile
hike at the Waimea Canyon.
This trip was such a well-earned one and solidified that
David and I need more vacations as adults only. However, we deeply missed the
kids so we are now planning a little get away with the kids.
